The Family Stone - Movie Review

midweek-Movie Review: The Family Stone
Ensemble Cast. Sarah Jessica Parker plays an uptight version of Carrie from Sex-I-t-C. Durmot Mulroney trying to pull a tearjerker scene? Luke Wilson is underused. Rachel McAdams is still gorgeous. Coach, rather Craig T. Nelson, looks elderly - really elderly And Diane Keaton is exactly what I imagine her as being outside of a movie set... spunky. It's a pretty weak attempt, cliche' laden and awkward at the wrost times. This year's attempt at being 'Christmas Story' goes unloved from moi.

“The Family Stone - Movie Review”

  1. Dusty Says:

Yang, if there is a lesson to be learned from this review, I would summarize it in the following way: don't pay $8 (or whatever God-awful amount the NYC film concessionaires demand) to see movies that you should know will be bad. That way you can devote your time, and hard earned money to creating movies that will be beneficial to mankind, or at the least, me. Of course, you can be honest and say that it was just about the R. McAdams sighting. I think that we can respect that.

  2. Dusty Says:

And by creating movies I meant creating movie reviews. Of course, you do in fact create, or at least star/cameo/provide sets for movies as well. Kudos to you fine sir.

  3. Katie Says:

I liked it. But I suppose it is rather chick-flickish, so that makes sense.

And I agree that Rachel McAdams is gorgeous.

  4. Hsieh Says:

Just saw it this afternoon, and I kinda liked it myself.

  5. Libby Says:

    Another 'aye' with the gals.

I had no expectations going into it - I think that helps. That way there is not let down if it doesn't meet all that you've dreamed it to be.
