I'm out...

Friday, July 01, 2005 by eric yang

In less than 24 hours I will be here...

Singer Island - West Palm Beach, FL

eating this...

My beloved seaside victuals - Surf n' Turf

after sitting here...

Under an umbrella partaking in a drink with an umbrella. I don't care if it's girly - I'm at the beach.

...Thank you Orbitz.

Weird looking posts?

Thursday, June 30, 2005 by eric yang

In case you're wondering why some of the posts have been looking odd... it's because I'm sending some of them from my cell phone and they take on this weird looking format I can't seem to change....

... Yeah, I know.

Just think of it as reality-blogging (RB'ing) with outtakes.

Gadgets & Ribeyes

But no... this guy plugs-in, hooks-up, and signs-on. I ended up not even using my computer that evening. All on account of a bottle of Acacci Pinot Grigio and a 20oz Ribeye (medium rare, no less) at the District Chophouse and Brewery. Too bad I didn't have a picture of the steak - it would have made a grown man weep. I sure did.

Drama

Wednesday, June 29, 2005 by eric yang

Everything went perfectly. The food was exqusite. The hotel was spectacular.
The meetings were productive. Alas, all went well. That is... until we got
to the airport. After a brief meal (what felt like my fourth that day) we
proceeded to thru security to Gate 35a where we were greeted with the lovely
news that our flight has been delayed by an hour. No big deal right? Well no
sooner had we turned around before an announcement declared that our plane
had been delayed again. Blast. With flight cancellations popping up like
x-mas lights at a Griswold family Christmas we decided to put our four
noggins together and weigh some options - corporate meeting style. Well long
story short - I'm now in what seems to be the last rental vehicle in
Washington D.C., a Pontiac Vibe rented from Avis. We're on highway
driving... er... quickly thru a veritable hurricane/monsoon/deluge. ETA -
2:30am Thursday morning. I live for this.

p.s. This is twice this month I have ridden in a Pontiac Vibe. How 'bout
them apples?

Cabbie

Tuesday, June 28, 2005 by eric yang

I'm in a cab and we're driving at breakneck speeds. What's worse is the
cabbie's trying to get directions to our hotel: the Capitol Hilton. Just
passed H street...

In Flight

by eric yang

There's obviously all types of laws and federal regulations being broken by
me writing an e-mail on the plane, but the good 'ol blackberry has an
airplane mode... So it just won't send anything until we land. Not to
mention that Verizon doesn't seem to have a signal 20,000 ft in the air...
can you hear me now?

Side note: one cannot stand during the last 30 minutes of flight time when
flying into Reagan National airport.

My boss just went to an off the cuff meeting (yes, in the plane) so I
thought I'd take this time to either nap or write a post. But instead of
either I think I'm going to go back to enjoying this outstanding ginger ale
(pictures later).

@ Gate 8

by eric yang

I made it thru security without any problems... But the ticket counter
attendant took the liberty to make the self-service kiosk less
self-servicey by giving me a 10 minute tour of the features it had
to offer. I've also committed my "dividend miles" membership number into my
permanent memory. Nice enough fellow though. I'm off to get a soda-bev.

Chattanooga & Wine

by eric yang

This past weekend on my trip back from Alabama I stopped in Chattnooga, TN to hang out with a friend. What I thought was going to be dinner and conversation ended up into a bit of an excessive wine-tasting/sipping/drinking.

Perhaps a little too much Coppola's Rosso was consumed. Regardless, it made for a fun evening. It's interesting to see how wine can make an evening with a friend and her two cronies I've never met before make for such a hilarious time. I'll refrain from further details.

Unfortunately I have no pictures from the evening, next time...(you know who you are)

Airport Posting?

by eric yang

I fly out to the District at 4pm today... It was recommended that I try "airport blogging" in a pseudo-live play-by-play fashion. I'll try, but you'll have to be sympathetic of my bruises (ego) when I end up stuck in the x-ray machine because I'm staring at my blackberry while walking. I'm sure the portly* attendant will assist me in a helpful and curteous manner, though.

* - a scathing generalization on my part.

The District

Monday, June 27, 2005 by eric yang

I just found out that I'm heading back up to everyone's favorite district of
Columbia, Washington. I think this makes a total of four trips up there this
year. Hopefully, my traveling woes will be minimal... seriously doubtful.

The best part of all this is that I'll be back in 28 hours. I love these
quick jaunts. They're so Alias-esque.

Island Anyone?

by eric yang

So between now and... er, tomorrow I need to procure $300k. Umm, and a residency permit to live in Japan.

Private Island

You know the sad thing is that the price for this is actually reasonable compared to the other listings which I had to stop looking at and lusting like This One. I mean seriously, do you just click "Buy It Now" and type in your credit card info?

Top 5 Road-Trip Necessities

Sunday, June 26, 2005 by eric yang

1. iPod or CD's

2. Directions

Overpriced in-car navigation system are bunk when such fine technologies as "pen and paper" are at my disposal

3. Camera

4. Water or Starbuck's Double-Espresso Shot

5. Burger King Croissan'wiches & Coffee

@ 7:30am, you couldn't ask for a better damn-yummy tasting thing

Anyone have their own personal favorites? Besides Croissan'wiches of course...

About

Midweekpost.com is a take on New York City thru the eyes (and camera) of an OCD, ADD, Scorpio written in the timeless, Thoreau inspired, form of blogging. Or as we like to refer to it: ADD writing for ADD reading. It's authored by a most contradictive guy armed with a most applicable Univ. of Tennessee economics degree working in the media industry as a producer (you're damn right that's cliche') of design (huh?) for a major broadcast company's digital initiative (say wha?) that has somehow managed to find his Korean, yet not Korean looking self living in the city that Ambien & Cosmo induced coma never sleeps. All that said, I don't promise greatness and I won't promise awesome but I will promise New York and a little dash o' me.
