Things I Miss

Thursday, August 18, 2005 by eric yang

I was having a chat with my friend Tim the other day and he reminded me how much I miss certain things. It's difficult to see how many things are amiss in my hectic life these days but there the are... staring at me in the face. Sometimes I feel like I'm standing in motion. Here are 50 things that popped into my head.

Some of you might think this inappropriate - I just think it's another fine example of something that gets funnier the more you watch it:

Texting... While Driving

by eric yang

Two things:
1) I lived in Southern Wales for a while.
2) Since discovering the joys of text I've found myself guilty of doing this several times.

Earlier, I was walking by my TV when I noticed something peculiar playing on my tv...

Enter the people...

A typical scene at my parent's home. Father doing his routing post work-day stock trading - attempting to take down the Smith & Barney's of the world

The requisite Central Park park bench snapshot while taking a stroll with my friend Diane. I promise I'm not from NYC...

... there's more coming, but I have to go take care of a couple of errands while this caffeine kick is still in full effect. Not to mention my left hand is shaking uncontrollably.

Artsy Photos

I'm at Panera Bread being either scorned by old women who are assuming I wear shorts to church, children who think my laptop is their only source of entertainment as mothers shove seemingly healthy salads into their mouths, or semi-pro white collars who are reminded by my "working" that tomorrow in indeed Monday.

That was an obnoxiously awesome run-on sentence. I love it.

Anyway, I thought I'd spend a few minutes and post some pictures from my iPhoto album. I'm about 800 pictures behind on midweekpost but I'll try and catch up a few today. Barry Manilow's "I Write The Songs" is somehow inspiring me. Wait, that songs about to end... now it's Randy Newman.

I consider myself a novateur (novice + amateur) photographer. That said, here are my week attempts at imitating the likes of Ansel Adams and Anne Leibovitz.

View from the new Time Warner towers, looking out on Central Park. I am adamant that all pictures of NYC should be taken in B&W.

The view from an upstairs cafe' I ate at while in NYC.

Everyone loves Guinness. If you don't now then you will... I guarantee it

And Some color...

Again, at my parent's abode. They have a rare night blooming cactus flower, Cereus, that blooms once a year. Here's a shot before it blooms.

As dusk sets, the flower begins to bulge.

At around 10pm the flower goes into full bloom. It will wither by dawn.

A different take on citronella torches.

Dessert at the Bon Appetit' cafe in Flushing, NY.

About

Midweekpost.com is a take on New York City thru the eyes (and camera) of an OCD, ADD, Scorpio written in the timeless, Thoreau inspired, form of blogging. Or as we like to refer to it: ADD writing for ADD reading. It's authored by a most contradictive guy armed with a most applicable Univ. of Tennessee economics degree working in the media industry as a producer (you're damn right that's cliche') of design (huh?) for a major broadcast company's digital initiative (say wha?) that has somehow managed to find his Korean, yet not Korean looking self living in the city that Ambien & Cosmo induced coma never sleeps. All that said, I don't promise greatness and I won't promise awesome but I will promise New York and a little dash o' me.
