Poolside Hullabaloo

Sunday, September 11, 2005 by eric yang

So I met up with some friends at my pool for a spot of grilling, swimming and post-night-out gab. By the way, I'm a firm believer that the entire point of going out are the stories you get to exchange the next day. Some of course being totally embarrassing and some being side-stitching hilarious.

For example: I had no idea why Jim and I ended up with a road sign "Humes St" until it was brought up today. Why is that so funny to me? And where the heck is Humes St? I don't know - but I'm l.o.l.'ing right now and I'm marvelously alone in my apartment.

Side note: For those of you curious, click here to see where Humes St. is. I never even knew there was a Humes St.

Anyway, I don't have any pix from our evening at Hannah's (oh wait, I do but I click-click-deleted them) so you'll just have to make-do with a couple we took towards the end of tonight's soiree.

From left to right:
Hairy Knee - I believe that's Mike. A new friend and a good one at that.
Brett - A handsome fellow indeed; too bad I mistook him for someone else at the club the night before. The 'other' guy didn't really appreciate being danced with by a Korean man ... boy, that was awkward.
Irene - Quite the fashionable lady I must say. While looking at this picture I asked myself how she managed to still have perfect hair after swimming...
Joy - The girl can take her Jim Beam. End of story.
Lei - Her and her husband Raimund are outstanding. When they party - you're guaranteed laughs and nasty rice cookers.
Foot in Jeans - That's Brian. More on him later.
Legs - Those are Jamie's. Mike's wife and friend. What's up with all these couples...

The caption on Brian's shirt (the green one) read "Spooning Leads to Forking". Simply inspired... and true.

Who doesn't cut their hair near a pool at 9pm on a Sunday night?? Evidently, a property manage and police officer don't. Oh well, their loss.

At the request of the property manager, Brett and Jim clean their hairy gifts to the world.

Mike realizes that, YES, the flash is ON.

Another handsome fellow, that Jim. Too bad this picture makes it look like he went #1 on the bench and ground. That leg belongs to a girl named Kelly who, frankly, is too young to talk about.

In Honor

by eric yang

Hopefully you've remembered to spend a minute or two this morning in remembrance of the victims of 9/11. It's easy to forget how tragic of an event was (it's the 'Pearl Harbor' of our generation), not to mention all those struggling and recovering on the South coast.

Donate to the Red Cross. I am. You can even use that corner button up there in the upper-right corner of this very site you're reading right now. courtesy Weblogs Inc.

Five Days

by eric yang

It's Sunday morning and I'm rapidly approaching on five days without posts. Here's a review on the past cinco dias in cryptic post facto snippets (CPFS's).

- Officially a reborn fan of Steve Winwood and REO Speedwagon.
- Still cannot handle tequilla in any form whatsoever and am embarrassed to be around girls that can.
- Thursday nights at Toddy's are a guilty pleasure.
- Friday nights are not what they used to be.
- Free BBQ at an apartment 'social'. I learned that awkward conversation can easily be alleviated by stuffing my face with brisket.
- Jogging more than one mile is out of the question. My body is simply not designed to do it.
- It was good to see Danielle and Kelly from NYC - Swimsuits from Target were the last thing I ever expected them to have to buy at 10pm. They said they liked sweet tea. I knew they were lying.
- RSVP'd to a wedding... on time.
- Did not drink coffee an entire day. 'Twas a bad day.
- During conversation lulls humorous fashion-accessories seem to always be a good convo-boost.

I'm off for some greasy Chinese - last night was unexpectedly rough.

About

Midweekpost.com is a take on New York City thru the eyes (and camera) of an OCD, ADD, Scorpio written in the timeless, Thoreau inspired, form of blogging. Or as we like to refer to it: ADD writing for ADD reading. It's authored by a most contradictive guy armed with a most applicable Univ. of Tennessee economics degree working in the media industry as a producer (you're damn right that's cliche') of design (huh?) for a major broadcast company's digital initiative (say wha?) that has somehow managed to find his Korean, yet not Korean looking self living in the city that Ambien & Cosmo induced coma never sleeps. All that said, I don't promise greatness and I won't promise awesome but I will promise New York and a little dash o' me.
