I got the opportunity to get press-day passes to the New York International Auto Show this year and it was definitely awesome. Not only did I not have to fight any crowds, but the cars were pristine, the press-releases were ongoing, and the models (ahem) were out demonstrating (ahem) the vehicles finer points. There were some incredible vehicles there and a lot of newly released cars I can't even begin to explain. Just click-thru the link below to the entire slideshow (warning: there's 328 photos) and see if there's anything that tickles your fancy. Link to SlideshowUpdate: The photos I've taken have been used in a nationally published slideshow. You can see the consolidated set by clicking here on WCBSTV.com. Labels: car, eric, photos

Red Rocks... About the only thing I knew about them before this past weekend was the Dave Matthews concert CD recorded there. Now, I've got a different perspective. Here's one of them: Oh, and if you look closely, that little sliver at the bottom of the photo is a two lane road... yeah, I know, the rocks are that big. Labels: eric, photos, vacation

The week in review. Well, that or just some random photos I took from the Treo over the past week. But you wouldn't know if I hadn't just said that now would you... (Left To Right) - Club/Lounge 'Pressure' in Union Square - Evidence that I met someone born in Germany with a Tennessee driver's license because it's the easiest state to get a license in. - The night I left my keys at the office for the, ugh, 6th time. - Drilling 20 3/8" holes in my pre-war plaster wall to install shelves from the Container Store. Only needed 10 of them. - Eating at Panna II, with the lowest ceilings of any building I have ever stood in. The menus and table place mats were a great head rest though. - Dinner at Bann with Diane - Nasty, dirty, New York street snow. Oh, and my left foot. - Momoko, Erica and Keiko at Divine Bar - Another shot of me standing at Panna II (yes, the ceilings are that low and yes, there are that many christmas lights hanging from the ceiling) - Zip Burger, mmmm... - Nike Sumo Squared SasQuatch driver at the Golf Digest Judges Panel social. Roses are red, violets are blue. It's snowing in New York, what am I to do? I wore the wrong shoes, I slipped and I slid, I'm a frightful mess, it's landed me the blues. My Valentine's wishes ,for one and for all. Fret not being single, it really is quite a ball. This poem is sucking. The worst at it's best. I'll cease & assist but I'm honestly... much better versed. Isn't it frustrating how the last word didn't rhyme? Tsk tsk, Eric. Naughty boy.Labels: announcements, eric, humor, new york, photos

Taken from the rooftop of the Olevia apartment building near Madison Square Gardens. My friend's apartment building has some spectacular views of Southern Manhattan. The day was frigid but the clouds were especially fluffy looking. I just said "fluffy" - I think that meets my allowable "fluffy" quota for the year. Labels: eric, photos

Evidently this particular intersection was having some problems due to a cross walk sign that had malfunctioned. Obviously New Yorkers being the obedient pedestrians that they are waited patiently. Thirty minutes later 478,335 people awaited the caucasian lit walking man. Alas it did not show and this is the result. Or wait, maybe it was a photo I took this past weeekend... I don't know, I'm delirious right now and Family Guy is on. (update) The crowd was from the 50shot protest that happened on Saturday. I have other shots of the protest I'm meaning to load here. Sorry, should have noted that. Labels: new york, photos

Dogs are awesome. Unfortunately I do not have a dog. Therefore, by the transitive property, I am not awesome. However, my many walks thru New York City let me see, yearn and pine for those with dogs, especially the ones that are ridiculously cute like the black pug you see to the right. His owner was not there when I took the pic so I was half tempted to go all Pied Piper and unhook the dog and take him home for my own keeping but alas my conscious got the better of me, only because I could not imagine the sheer pain someone would experience by walking out the store and seeing a dogless dog leash just sitting there on the ground. So it finally happened. After a year of living in New York it was bound to happen. My absent-mindedness combined with psychotic New York drivers has resulted in an ill-fate of collision. In this case it's between me and a silver Jeep Commander. Somehow magically this was all captured by my camera as went hurtling through the air and snapped off a shot at just the right moment. It is only by fate that I was lucky enough to bring you this photo. Sheer luck I say. The camera went even so far to show you that the guy driving the black SUV next to me was simply dumbfounded by the entire occurence. I don't blame him. How many times do you see a Jeep take on a Korean man's right leg and lose? It's a good thing I had my phone in my right pocket or who knows how much more damage there could have been. I might not even have been able to walk away from the ghastly event to tell you the story. Heaven forbid that happen. Can't you just feel the pain in the expression of my face? That's Oscar material right there... oh wait, I wasn't acting...Labels: humor, new york, photos

Whenever I take a batch of photos or look back at some old ones there are always one or two that stand out to me. The one here of my friends Libby and Melissa happens to be one of those. Of course there was a 'wee' bit of photoshopping but hey, it's all in the name of creativity. Well anyway, I thought I'd start sharing some of these photos with you regardless of their purpose or context. There's no rhyme or reason - just like yours truly. Labels: friends, photos

Spotted in New York: several new signs that encourage New Yorkers to drop their attaches and lattes, stick their left leg in and shake it all about. By the makes of this sign, it's called the Times Square Shuffle - which has no relation to tourist-dodging angry faced midtown workers who hold their Blackberries as blunt trauma causing objects. You haven't danced until you've danced on a New York street corner.... although I was forced to improvise by romping the "Neely Shuffle" (old inside joke). Labels: new york, photos

Midweekpost.com
is a take on New York City thru the eyes (and camera) of an OCD, ADD, Scorpio written in the timeless, Thoreau inspired, form of blogging. Or as we like to refer to
it: ADD writing for ADD reading. It's authored by a most contradictive guy armed with a most applicable Univ. of Tennessee economics degree working in the media industry
as a producer (you're damn right that's cliche') of design (huh?) for a major broadcast company's digital initiative (say wha?) that has somehow managed to
find his Korean, yet not Korean looking self living in the city that Ambien & Cosmo induced coma never sleeps. All that said, I don't promise greatness and I won't promise awesome but I will
promise New York and a little dash o' me.
